See in the New Year in Japanese style by watching the sunrise and eating o-zouni (or zenzai) on the summit of Mt. Maya!

There will be almost a full moon on the night of 31st December, so should be plenty of light for this early morning hike.

Meet at Hankyu Ojikoen station at 04:00 a.m.

2 hour steady climb to the summit of Mt Maya (698.6m)

Prepare hot o-zouni while waiting for the sun to rise at 07:06 a.m.

Afterwards hike down the mountain (about 90 mins) for breakfast.

Take: hiking boots, warm clothing including hat and gloves, rainwear, flashlight, small personal first-aid kit, survival blanket, snacks, hot drink
