Interested in winter sports?

Why not join this annual winter sports weekend in Nagano, organised by Pierre, a member of the IAC, our sister club in Tokyo.

IAC Hakuba Classic 20th Edition  Feb. 9~11th 2019 (Monday 11th is a national holiday.)
 
Ski/Snowboard weekend in Hakuba Iwatake & Happo Olympic resorts. This trip features onsen and a stay at Shioya, an authentic culturally rich farm-house that converts to minshuku during snow season. All vegetables served are homegrown. Real Japanese style with tatami, futons (lots of..), charcoal kotatsu (yes), ofuro hot bath -or onsen available nearby- and owner's hospitality. Total number limited to 12. Group leaves by car-sharing and/or train or overnight bus.
An optional one day tour to the famous Jigokudani Wild Monkey Hotsprings "Monkey Park" can be booked.
 
SCHEDULE
Note that check-in at Shioya will be SATURDAY. Rooms will be available from Saturday night, but it's possible to drop bags. One room will be available for changing etc from noon. 

Possible to stay longer or arrive earlier, but please let Estella know your plans.

Shioya Minshuku can provide pickup from local station/bus stop in the daytime upon advance reservation.
 
Arrival at Shioya on Saturday. Full 2 nights stay.
Check-out Monday afternoon after shower, back to Kansai on Monday night.
 
Transportation:

If enough IOC members are interested in going, it may be possible to drive from Kansai to Hakuba on Friday night or Sat morning.

Otherwise, participants will need to purchase their own bus or train tickets.
 
COST PER PERSON
Group per person: Lodge JPY 15,000/ 2 nights (incl. 4 meals)
Lifts: JPY 4,500/day; Ski/snowboard  rental: JPY2800/day ; snowshoe rental: JPY2000/day.
Monkey Park Tour: JPY 8,000 to 12,000/full day (check the web sites above & book & pay yourself)
Except lift tickets, no credit cards accepted, you must bring cash with you.

Advance deposit JPY5,000- required by 25th January, but please contact Estella first.
This deposit covers the lodge reservation and will not be refunded if cancelled after Feb. 1st (but you can register a replacement instead).

This event is open to IOC members of all winter sports abilities, but if you are requiring lessons (ski/snowboard) you'll need to organise them yourself at the ski area.
