Cherry Blossom 1* Hike near Kyoto
Let’s visit some of the most beautiful cherry-blossom-viewing spots near Kyoto, without the usual hoards of sightseers!
Hike from Kurama, a scenic village in the northern mountains of Kyoto up to the famous Budhhist temple, Kurama Dera for a picnic lunch.
From there we’ll continue hiking through the forest and down to the quaint small town of Kibune, in the neighbouring valley.
Returning to Kyoto there will be an option to walk along the cherry-blossom-lined Philosopher’s Walk back towards the station.
Kurama to Kibune hike will take up to 4 hours, including lunch and photo stops.
10:20 a.m. Meet at the entrance to the Eizan Railway line in northern Kyoto (take the northern exit from Demachi-Yanagi station on the Keihan line).
We’ll take the 10:30 Eizan Railway train to Kurama arriving in Kurama at 11:01 (430 yen)
Please wear hiking clothes and shoes and take lunch and drinks.
If the weather forecast is poor for Sunday 5th, we’ll hold this event on Saturday 4th.
Numbers will be limited, so please contact Estella by 29th March if you’d like to participate, stating whether you are available on 4th, or 5th or both dates.
