Suma Alps Day Hike

 Sunday 27th May 2nd     2 star ** hike

OR

Saturday 26th if the weather forecast for Sunday is bad.

10:30 ->15:30

Join us for an exciting day hike in the ‘Suma Alps’, so called because of the rocky outcrop near the top, where you get the feeling that you are high up in the Alps! A little rock scrambling is necessary here and the views are spectacular. Hike down to Suma, where there will be the option to walk along the beach and/or have a beer, ice cream or dinner. The entire hike (including a lunch break) will be about 4.5 to 5 hours.

Meeting place: Sanyo Electric train line ‘Itayado’ station South (East) Exit.

It's also possible to take the Seishin Yamate line, get off at Itayado and take the North Exit (no. 1). Walk ahead a little way and you will find the Sanyo Electric train station  South (East) exit.

Meeting time: 10:30 a.m.

Finishing place: Sumaurakoen station on the Sanyo Electric line (An easy ten to fifteen minute walk from JR Suma station)

It will be possible to take a cable car down the mountain if you need to finish the hike early or feel tired.

What to take: Hiking shoes (the ground is slippery in places), hiking clothes and rain wear (just in case!), sun hat and sunscreen, bug spray, lunch, drinking water and hiking sticks (optional).

Map: If you happen to have it, this trail is on the Yama to Kogen ‘Rokko and Maya’ map number 48.

Please sign up by midnight on Thursday 24th May, by sending an Email to Estella.

On the Email please give your full name and mobile phone number if you have one.

Also please state whether or not you will be available to hike on Saturday 26th if the weather forecast for Sunday is bad.

This hike will be changed to Saturday 26th in the case of heavy rain on Sunday and cancelled if heavy rain is forecast for both days. In which case, Estella will send an Email to all participants by 22:00 on Friday 25th.

Hope that many of you will be able to join us!

Thank you!
