Mt. Hodaka 27 -> 30th July

This is a joint IAC/IOC event to climb 2 or 3 of peaks in the Hodaka range, in the Northern Japan Alps. Our climbing pace will be average, but you must be physically fit for 3,000m mountains.

From Kansai you'll need to find transportation to Kamikochi, arriving at around 12:00 mid-day on 27th

Required: hiking boots, waterproof clothing, warm clothes, hat, water, food, flashlight.  Recommended: UV sunblock, sunglasses, first aid kit, gloves, poles.

Mountain huts/lodges cost about 10,000yen including meals; camp sites cost around 1000yen. It is possible to eat in the lodge and camp outside.

July 27  Travel to Kamikochi. Climb 3 hours to Dakesawa koya (hut) or camp. http://www.yarigatake.co.jp/dakesawa/information.html

July 28  Climb MaeHodaka, OkuHodaka, stay in Hotakadake sanso (hut) or camp.

July 29  Climb KitaHodaka then descend and stay in Yoko-o lodge - see prices at http://www.yokoo-sanso.co.jp/reservation (you have make a reservation - it is Saturday night). Camping is possible.

You should also have mountain insurance, to cover accidents, etc. (Montbell have insurance for short trips - online or in their shops).  On July 9 or 10, I will call huts/lodges to check about available space, so please sign up by July 9. This trip is limited to 8 people.
