Mayasan Day Hike from Shinkobe

A very pleasant day hike via impressive waterfalls at Nunobiki and passing the Kobe Drinking Water Reservoir before climbing up to the summit of Mt Maya (700m) for a fantastic view over Kobe and the Osaka Bay to Wakayama.

Location: Dept Shin Kobe & return to Hankyu Rokko, Hankyu Ojikoen or JR Maya stations

Hike up will take about 3 hours. Late picnic lunch  at the summit. Options to hike down (approximately one hour), take the Maya Cable (880 yen) or take a bus to Hankyu Rokko station (900 yen)

 Meeting point and time: Shinkobe station ground floor (one floor below the shinkansen gates) at 10:15 a.m.

 Transportation: To get to the meeting spot from Sannomiya you can take the subway line for one stop (then follow signs to the shinkansen), take a no. 2 bus (to Nunobiki)  or no. 18 bus (to Shinkobe) stop, or walk for about 20 to 30 minutes.

 What to bring: Hiking clothes and boots, breathable rainwear, hiking sticks (optional) and a day-pack containing: drinking water, picnic lunch and snacks, camera (optional), sunglasses, sunscreen and personal first aid items.

 Max # of participants: 10

 Deadline for sign-up: Thursday 6th July

 Cancellation policy: If the weather forecast for 8th is for 60 per cent or more of rain on Saturday, this event will be cancelled. Please check the event information on the IOC website after 10:30 p.m. on Friday 7th July.

 Map: ‘Yama to Kogen’  (no. 48) map of Rokko and Maya. If you happen to have one, please bring it.
