August, 1st | Sunday | Hiking **
It is hot summer so the best thing to do is join a hike up along the river from Kurodani to the old and abandoned Hiro ski area. The hike leads up from the small and beautiful village Kurodani along eight waterfalls, sometimes climbing or traversing them, to the top with beautiful views of Lake Biwa. This hike is said to be one of the most interesting and beautiful day hikes in Kasai area (according to the Lonely Planet Hiking Guide), so don't miss the chance of going there!
After some relaxing lunch break up there, we will walk down to Lake Biwa for swimming, ice cream, beer or whatever you prefer.
For this plan to work, you have to:
- send an email to Dominikus until Friday July 30th, 8pm
- wear outdoor clothes and shoes that can get wet
- bring spare clothes and lunch in a daypack, as well as plenty of drinks (at least 2 liters of water)
- bring swimsuits and towel in case you like to go swimming at Biwako after the hike
- be at Omo-Takashima station at latest at 9am on August 1st, 2010 (our bus leaves at 9.03am and we will NOT be waiting for the next bus because someone is late): for example, there is a JR Special Rapid Service leaving Osaka at 7.45am (Kyoto at 8.15am) that will bring you to Omi-Takashima on the Kosei line at 8.55am.
Looking forward to seeing you at the hike!
