after the swine-flu (or, better, the swine-flu hysteria, which lasted exactly one week) ruined our plans last year, let's give it another try:
I am planning to participate in the upcoming Shodoshima Olive Marathon on May 23rd (Sunday). The deadline for signing up for this race is April 2nd (Friday).
The details still need to be worked out, but we will probably go to the beautiful island on the day before to enjoy the famous olives and get ready for the race on Sunday. Return would be on Sunday evening.
There are three different courses you can do, 5km, 10km, or 21km (half-marathon). The entry fee is 4000JPY. If you are a runner and would like to join, let me know at latest until March 26th (Friday).
Even if you are not a runner, but interested in going to Shodoshima, you are welcome as well! We runners will certainly appreciate your presence as "spectatores acclamant" (hmm ... the direct translation would probably be "cheerleaders" but that doesn't sound right, especially for guys ...). Please sign up as well until March 26th. It is a very popular event and we need to reserve accommodation, transportation etc.
